Workplace First Aid

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

A one-day recognised course giving your team the confidence to act in an emergency until help arrives.

Emergency First Aid at Work is ideal for lower-risk workplaces and for nominated first aiders in larger teams.

Delivered by experienced, front-line instructors, the day blends short theory bursts with hands-on practice so every learner leaves able to manage an emergency calmly and correctly.

What the day covers

  • The role and responsibilities of the emergency first aider
  • Assessing an incident and managing the scene safely
  • CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • The unresponsive casualty and the recovery position
  • Choking, seizures, shock and severe bleeding
  • Minor injuries, burns and scalds

Assessment and certification

Learners are assessed continuously through practical demonstration and a short written or oral question paper. Successful learners receive a nationally recognised certificate, issued through our approved training provider partners and valid for three years.

What you'll be able to do

  • Assess an emergency and keep yourself and others safe
  • Deliver CPR and use an AED with confidence
  • Manage an unresponsive, choking or bleeding casualty
