Paediatric First Aid

A two-day course covering EYFS first aid content, for anyone caring for babies and children.

Our Paediatric First Aid course covers the first aid content set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Certificates are issued through our approved training provider partners.

The course is practical and reassuring, giving parents and professionals alike the skills to respond to childhood emergencies with a clear head.

What the course covers

  • Roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
  • Infant and child CPR and AED use
  • Choking, drowning and the unresponsive child
  • Febrile convulsions, seizures and meningitis
  • Anaphylaxis, asthma and diabetic emergencies
  • Bleeding, burns, fractures, head injuries and poisoning

Assessment and certification

Continuous practical assessment with written question papers. The certificate is valid for three years.

What you'll be able to do

  • Perform infant and child CPR and use an AED
  • Manage choking, seizures and anaphylaxis in children
  • Recognise the signs of serious illness including meningitis
  • Cover the first aid content required under EYFS
